Prepare yourselves, Britney Spears fans: She’s about to release a brand-new single called “Hold It Against Me” in just over a week. Sharon Dastur, program director for NYC’s Z100 radio, has heard the new single, and she loves it.

“It’s produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, and the beat that they give her is really unique compared to other artists — this infectious bass beat beneath the song,” Dastur says in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newsstands tomorrow. “Plus, the hook is just amazing.”

Dastur tells us that “Hold It Against Me” will premiere on Jan. 7, next Friday. It will presumably precede Spears’ seventh studio album, about which little is known aside from a March release date.

Excited yet? Spears doing her thing over an “infectious bass beat” from pop maestros Dr. Luke and Max Martin sounds pretty enticing, no? Let us know if you’re looking forward to hearing “Hold It Against Me.”

Britney Spears is the latest mega pop star to be getting a "Glee"-full makeover.

"We are writing a Britney Spears episode," Ryan Murphy, creator of the hit musical comedy TV show, told celebrity news show Entertainment Tonight.

It was not clear whether Spears, 28, the biggest pop music phenomenon of the early 2000s with hits like "Oops!...I Did It Again" and "Piece of Me", would also appear in the episode planned for the new season which starts in the fall.

"Glee", which won 19 Emmy nominations on Thursday, based two episodes earlier this year on the music of Madonna and Lady Gaga but neither of the singers appeared on the show.

"Glee", about a struggling high school show choir that sings cover versions of pop, Broadway and hip-hop tunes, was one of the most-talked about TV programs of the last year.

It produced three hit albums of music while also sending sales soaring for the original artists whose music is featured, and its young stars recently completed a U.S. concert tour.

Producers however have denied reports that Spanish movie star Javier Bardem, who won an Oscar in 2008 for his role in "No Country for Old Men", would appear as a guest in the new season.

But among all the stars they've worked with, from Jennifer Lopez to Naomi Campbell, the star they think is the hottest woman alive, just might surprise you.

“Britney would be the hottest woman I have ever photographed, she was super sexy. At the time, she was just unbelievable – so natural and so sweet,” Klinko gushed to Pop Tarts, referring to a large-scale, garden-themed shoot they did with the pop princess at the beginning of 2004. “Britney was just so personable and she had a lot of the ideas for the images. It was one of the loveliest experiences.”

While this was years before Brit married and divorced Kevin Federline, shaved her head and lost custody of her kids – it seems the seeds to that eventual breakdown were already starting to sprout.

“Britney was very vulnerable. She had a big entourage but they didn’t really pay attention to her – she felt like she was on her own,” added Indrani. “She worked day and night singing and dancing for a video she was working on, and she was working up to the minute that she left for our shoot. With the boys in another room with their nannies, Britney locked herself into her hotel room. ‘She started out crying hysterically and refused to go out,’ an insider shares. ‘Jason and the boys were left sitting with the nanny all day. They never got to meet Mickey Mouse.’ That night, things went from bad to worse when Britney ordered scissors sent to her room and began cutting off her hair. The insider says: ‘When the cleaners came to the room, so much hair had been flushed down the toilet, it was blocked’,” the tab writes.

And there’s more, apparently. “Sadly, strange scenes like that one are becoming more and more typical. Britney Spears version of ‘Telephone’, the track recently made famous by Lady Gaga, has leaked onto the internet.

Website iLeaks.com has posted the audio and is apparently offering Britney Spears’ demo version of the song for US$750.

According to internet reports, Lady Gaga originally wrote the song for Britney to release on her album Circus. Britney recorded a demo of the track but it never made the album, and has since been recorded and released on Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster album.

In March 2009, song-writer and producer Rodney Darkchild reportedly tweeted “Me and Lady Gaga wrote a smash for Britney called 'Telephone' the label didnt out it on the LP (Circus). It should be out right now!!! Its too hot!!!” – although his Twitter page is no longer active.

Britney’s version is not remarkably different from the final Lady Gaga version although it does not feature Beyonce, and there appears to be a lot more auto-tuning of her voice.

Complete with iconic photo shoots and even a music video featuring Candie's looks, Spears is taking her spokesperson duties to the next level. She's going to be designing her own line of clothes for Candie's.

Spears announced on Thursday that she would be designing a limited edition collection for the brand. She currently shot the photos for the campaign for the line, titled "Britney for Candie's" .

Joining the “brave” new trend, kind of, the controversial pop icon has released pictures from her latest shoot without the aid of photoshop. Spears’ untouched photos were released after the retouched versions, and have the unique ability to be compared side-by-side to the photo-shopped copies to show people how much really changes with a little digital re-touching.

The move is part of a new trend among celebrities and models that embraces au-naturale beauty. Although Britney wasn’t quite as brave as Jessica Simpson. Jessica graced the cover the Marie Claire with a close-up no make-up photo. Brave!

And while there is now some controversy as to whether she had a dash of mascara on, but that’s unfounded for now. The former singer said of the shoot:

“Look at the cover — you can tell! My nose has been broken a couple of times. If you look at a retouched cover of me and you look at the Marie Claire cover, you can see there’s a big difference.”

That’s true. And I think it’s an awesome trend that’s inspiring a little honesty and bringing Hollywood back down to earth a smidge. Spears’ untouched photos reveal the pop star’s butt and legs are a little more ample than shown in her catalogues, but other than that and some complexion adjustments, she’s not all that fake at this point!

Talking about her shoot, Britney was excited about her outfits:

“I got to wear the cutest clothes and they are perfect for summer,” she said to the press. “My favourite set-up was against the gigantic wall of pink cotton candy”

The move is attracting a positive reaction from the industry. Kendra Wilkinson, host of The Girls Next Door spin-off Kendra on E!, was impressed with the no-photoshop move.

According to rumors, Britney Spears and her boyfriend Jason Trawick were seen fighting last night. She was driving around in Los Angeles, wiping the tears away after a long cry.

Snitches have said that Britney was screaming at Jason and even went as far as hitting him in the face. What puzzles me is why there aren’t any photos of said fight, or video. As many of the paparazzi are following these two around for their meal tickets, you would think video of this “fight” would’ve surfaced by now.

I hope she’s alright. I would hate to see her go back to the craziness that her life was a few years back. All I think she could use right now is a Kleenex and a brush, but those are doable. As opposed to a shaved head and a 5150 hold, that is.

Britney Spears and her boyfriend spent 48 hours shut in their luxury hotel room over the weekend.

The 28-year-old singer and her celebrity agent lover Jason Trawick checked into the exclusive Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California, on Friday afternoon. They weren’t seen again until Sunday evening, only making contact with the outside world to order fried chicken, fruit and a massage.

“Jason was keen to spend some quality time with Britney and drove them to the five-star hotel on Friday,” a hotel source told British magazine More! “I think they checked in at 4pm and didn’t emerge from their $530-a-night presidential suite until Sunday afternoon.

Britney Spears is back to modeling for the popular teen brand Candie's. What is really amazing though is that the troubled pop star looks like she's back to her original fine form, as the ad campaign looks to be a lot less airbrushed, at least according to Britain's Daily Mail.

For the Spring/Summer 2010 ads, Spears was photographed by three of the world's top photographers, including Annie Leibovitz, Mark Seliger and Terry Richardson in three different sets.

For Richardson, Britney frolics in a two-piece lingerie set with matching heels with only a fuchsia-colored teddy bear. Leibovitz's set was an old-school style chair with a fun loving Britney flicking her hair in a beaded-collar dress. Seliger's set was the most elaborate by far, with Britney perched atop a Moulin-Rouge-inspired dressing room table in shades of pink all around.

Britney told her fans, "It was an amazing shoot, and I know my fans are going to love the cool images. I'm very excited to be working with Candie's for a second season."

In a number of images for the new Candies campaign, Spears revisits the girlish image she developed as a teen. One photo shows the pop icon in an ornate, girly boudoir, looking natural and unposed, as if she just changed out of a costume. Another shows Spears looking sophisticated in a little black dress. The most revealing photo features Spears in a virginal bra-and-panties ensemble, holding a giant pink teddy bear. It’s reminiscent of her infamous 1999 Rolling Stone cover shoot -- except for the piercing look she’s giving the camera, which says "Been there, done that, and now I’m in charge."

For a singer whose vocal skills were never the key to her success -- and whose offstage antics threatened to wreck the sexy-sweet persona that was her main appeal -- Spears certainly seems to have returned to her comfort zone, teasing fans with flirtatious images that make the most of her assets. Now that she's a mom and her teenage days are long gone, though, one wonders if the Candies photos give her any room to grow.

He’s 6′0” tall, so that’s at least 60-pounds above healthy.

“I went through a lot of things and I’d definitely say those contributed to my weight gain,” admits the 31-year-old rapper.

Kevin won’t reveal how much he’s lost since joining VH1’s ‘Celebrity Fit Club,’ but he says his two sons – 5-year old Sean and 4-year old Jayden – have been a great help in his achieving a less triangular shape.

“It was easier to eat more when they were younger because they weren’t as active,” he explained. “Now they want to play sports, and run around the backyard and ride bikes.”

The singer and her agent beau, who have been dating for 18 months, arrived at Miami airport together on Friday.

But despite the chance for some quality time with Jason, Britney looked far from happy as she was spotted outside a recording studio yesterday.

Clearly in a bad mood for some reason, Britney scowled at photographers before trying to hide under an umbrella - even though there was no rain in sight.

Wearing sunglasses and a pink polo neck, Britney looked sad as she chatted to her bodyguard outside the studio.

Despite her sombre demeanour, Britney recently denied reports she was suffering from depression.

Britney's management posted a series of US tabloid articles about her alleged depressions on her official website, with the words 'bulls**t' stamped across them.

She said recently: 'I'm learning to take better care of myself and not get stressed or down about things for nothing.

'I'm taking my time these days and not letting myself get under any pressure other than to just feel happy about myself and to work on my music.

'I want to show people I am a strong woman. I have a lot of great things ahead of me that I want to accomplish. I feel positive and much happier, things are looking good again. I'm learning to relax and not place so much pressure on myself.'

Last month, the singer celebrated her 28th birthday with Jason and her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James hanging by the pool at LA's Mondrian Hotel.

While Britney's current lovelife appears to be back on track, her ex-husband Kevin Federline admitted they are managing to regain a friendship as they co-parent their two sons.

BRITNEY Spears' strange behavior, like speaking only in the voice of a male cartoon character and loitering at a hotel down the street from her house rather than going home, continued to fuel speculation about her well-being, The Sun has reported.

Spears reportedly found it tough to readjust to life at home after spending most of last year on tour and began staying at the Mondrian Hotel a few days every couple of weeks with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.

The former Mickey Mouse Club member insisted on speaking in the voice of character Stewie from the cartoon Family Guy, complete with faux British accent, while staying at the trendy Los Angeles hotel. Sources there said she is a frequent visitor to the hotel despite living just down the road.

THEY all knew the miming would be shameless. But with a hefty roar of welcome from Brisbane fans tonight, the message from almost 10,000 fans to starlet Britney Spears was clear - they didn't mind.

If the "leave Britney alone'' and "save Britney" T-shirts were any indication, the Spears army was poised to defend their lip-synching heroine on the back of successive bad reviews.

Lip-synching aside (which was never a surprise), Spears doesn't move as well as she used to.

If you remember the blonde teen who busted moves in Hit Me Baby One More Time, you would have been sorely disappointed by the woman who strutted more than anything else and was carried (literally, at times) by her breath-taking back up cast.

But the fact is this - as far as comebacks go, the Spears Circus is spectacular.

Far from the images of the popstar-turned-trainwreck that have been beamed around the world in recent years, tonight Spears appeared on stage as a glowing teen idol.

Hoisted high above the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in the arm of an umbrella, she was the ringmaster - it was hard to believe this was the same woman who has been the protagonist of countless scandals, ranging from head shaving to carrying her baby unrestrained on her lap in the car.

Her sculpted body carries off the skimpy costumes she flaunts, and her wide smile and bright blonde hair scream glossy pop star perfection.

There is no denying she has a set list that's defined teen pop over the past decade.

The American pop star has faced a backlash from Australian fans who had walked out of her two-hour 'Circus' shows and demanded their money back after discovering that she was miming the songs.

Dozens more tickets went on sale on Thursday after the pop princess failed to wow fans with her first Melbourne show on Wednesday evening. The starting price for some tickets has been as low as 55p.

BRITNEY Spears has hit back at critical media reports of her Circus tour, saying she came to Australia for her fans.

The pop star arrived in the country last week amid controversy over her lip-synching stage performance, and soon faced reports that disappointed fans walked out of her opening show in Perth.

Spears has been keeping a low profile since arriving in Melbourne earlier this week, but she responded to the criticism today.

"I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show," Spears said in a statement.

"Some reporters have said they love it and some don't. I came to Australia for my fans!"

Spears is due to play the first of three sold-out shows in Melbourne on Wednesday night, and has been indulging in some retail therapy.

"Went shopping on Collins Street yesterday and got a lot of my Christmas presents. Melbourne is beautiful. Can't wait to see more. -Britney," she wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

Aussie DJ Havana Brown, who is touring with Spears, said she is surprised by the savaging the pop princess has received here.

Brown said there was no negative reaction from fans and the media about lip-synching and lacklustre performances in Europe, where they toured before Australia.

"I think it's quite well known that she has lip-synched in the past. I don't think it's any surprise to anybody," Brown told AAP.

"There was nothing like that in Europe. I think everyone knew what they were in for, and I think everyone should know here as well.

"I'm not quite sure what the fuss is about."

Brown was personally chosen by Spears' father and manager to open the Circus tour in Europe and Australia.

The Melbourne native gets the crowds warmed up for Spears each night and then sits back to enjoy the spectacle.

She said there was an "incredible response" at the first two shows in Perth, and she hoped Aussie fans would make up their own minds about the concert.

Federline is to jet in to look after the couple's two boys, Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3, while Spears tours and is also planning on raising money for a children's charity.

Federline, who has put on weight since he was a back-up dancer for Spears, is also expected to be looking newly slim when he arrives in Australia.

A contestant on US reality show Celebrity Fit Club, Federline has already lost 20kg and is expected to be looking even leaner. He and the boys will join Spears for her concert leg in Brisbane.

Not only will Spears be releasing an album titled The Singles Collection, she will be putting out a new single called ‘3′.

Britney Spears and her crew continues to pump out the product for the pop songstress with a highly anticipated boxed set with 17 of her biggest hits. It has been since 2004 since Spears released a Greatest Hits album and so to hear this news should not be so surprising.

According to TMZ, Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has extended the custody agreement that gives Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline joint custody of their two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. The order, which was originally put in place to cover Spears' Circus tour, will last through the end of the year.

Under the terms of the deal, Britney — who at one point had lost custody of the children due to her chaotic personal life — was allowed to travel with the boys while on tour, provided she make arrangements for Federline's lodging if he chose to accompany them.

Unnamed sources told TMZ that the sealed order is highly detailed, but that it provides Spears with a minimum of 50/50 custody or more at times. In return, Federline gets $20,000 a month in child support, as well as $20,000-$25,000 additional a month when the boys travel outside of California. The judge will re-evaluate the custody arrangements at the end of the year, but the joint custody appears to be the plan going forward.

While Spears has been traversing the globe in support of her Circus album — which will travel to Australia in November — a noticeably heftier Federline has signed up to appear on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club." Reportedly joining him on the show will be singer Bobby Brown, Federline's ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson and former "Baywatch" star Nicole Eggert.

That was before never seen outtakes from the set of 'Gimme More' was leaked, in which, we can see an intoxicated looking topless Britney Spears pole-dancing. Britney is covering her breasts with only a star shaped sticker or paint. The outtakes from the set of her 2007 video are not the sexiest things ever but she is topless and we can see some nipples.

It is entirely possible a drunken Britney colored all over her exposed breasts with magic marker and demanded they shoot the video "mah way, y'all." Britney Spears who is currently in Europe on tour for her Circus Tour with Hip-Hop R&B music singer and dancer Ciara as a supporting act, finally gave us a topless view of her tits. I just wished she had done this ten years earlier when she was kinda hot and appeared clean.

On the evening of January 3, 2008, after not sleeping for over four days, Spears refused to relinquish custody of her children to Federline's representatives. In response, police were called to Spears's home.

She was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after she "appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance", though blood tests tested negative for any illicit substances. She was held for psychiatric evaluation for two days. Pending a February 19 hearing, Commissioner Scott Gordon issued an order on January 14 stating that her visitation rights have been suspended indefinitely. On January 31, a court placed Spears under temporary co-conservatorship of her father James Spears and attorney Andrew Wallete, giving them complete control of her assets. As a result of an order placed by her psychiatrist, she was taken to UCLA Medical Center to be put on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold for the second time that month.

On February 1, a restraining order was issued against Sam Lutfi, a prominent figure in Spears's life. She was released from the hospital on February 6, amid speculation that she has bipolar disorder, although medical records are classified, and no confirmation has been made. Her parents expressed disappointment and concern at the decision to release her.

She has regained some visitation rights after coming to an agreement with Federline and his counsel. On July 18, 2008, Spears and Federline reached a custody settlement in which Federline retains sole custody while Spears keeps her visitation rights.

Vanessa Grigoriadis reported in "The Tragedy of Britney Spears" (2008), her cover story for Rolling Stone, that "more than any other star today, Britney epitomizes the crucible of fame for the famous: loving it, hating it and never quite being able to stop it from destroying you".

Grigoriadis wrote that "every day in L.A., at least a hundred paparazzi, reporters and celebrity-magazine editors dash after her" and that paparazzi estimated Spears generated "up to twenty percent of their coverage for the past year". She further documented that in addition to tabloid journalists, the Associated Press declared that everything Spears does is considered news.

"The paparazzi feed the celebrity magazines, which feed the mainstream press, while sources sell their dirtiest material to British tabloids, and then it trickles back to America," wrote Grigoriadis, "She's the canary in the coal mine of our culture, the most vivid representation of the excess of the past decade."
